Ten-year-old Stephen Rebeiro is putting on his running shoes to help save the orangutans - and calling on everyone in Solihull to join him.

Stephen, of Alveston Grove, Solihull, has already persuaded most of his classmates at Knowle C of E Primary School to join in the sponsored fun run. TV wildlife expert Chris Packham is putting the runners under starters orders at the Norman Green Sports Centre at 2pm on Saturday October 21st.

Keen environmentalist Stephen decided to organise the fun run to raise money for threatened wildlife after being chosen as Um Jungle Patrol ambassador for the Midlands and Anglia regions. Along with seven other ambassadors all over the country, Stephen's mission is to help spread the message about our endangered species and raise money for conservation here in the UK and abroad.

He said: "The Um Jungle Patrol is a great way of getting involved in wildlife activities and getting other people to join in. The more people who join in my fun run the more money we can make and the more orangutans we can help save."
